Jenna Gygi, born in Bern, Switzerland is a wingsuit world champion and professional wingsuit pilot and coach for over 10 years with more than 3500 jumps of experience. She has a broad resume spanning all disciplines of wingsuit flying. She is highly regarded within the sport, with top competitive results and multiple 1st place finishes and world titles to her name.
One thing we all know about wingsuiters is that they are pretty much always the last to land, often after the AFF students.
Why does this have any relevance being in a Bio about Jenna we hear you ask? Well it enables us to share one example of who she is, apart from a world champion wingsuit pilot, and record holder that is. On one particular occasion, when Jenna had again landed last, she saw an AFF student on his 2nd or 3rd jump struggling to sort his canopy out to walk off the landing area. The AFF student tried to pick all of the canopy up, then dropped his lines, picked them up then dropped his pilot chute, started walking off and realised he had left his helmet on the ground, it went on (we have all been there right).
Rather than ignoring it she walked across the landing area, dropped her canopy and demonstrated to him how to daisy chain his lines and how he could carry his canopy in a better, more efficient way. I’m sure there are many lessons for many of us in there somewhere but this has to be about as clear as it gets that she truly cares about this sport and those that are lucky enough to participate in it.
