Jumps – 24,400 +

Loves – well looking over what Tim has done in his career so far, he pretty much loves all of it.  But the top of his list has to be flying fast.  He has a depth of knowledge and experience that few people in our sports have, gained from years of organising and competing around the globe.

About Tim

Tim’s jumping begun above Ipswich in the UK in 1992 jumping static line rounds.  From that time on he has never really stopped.  He has 28 UK, 5 Scottish national medals, 13 of which are gold, in a number of different disciplines including fee-fly, freestyle, speed 8 and skysurfing. Gold in free-fly European Cup and gold in Tribu races.  High altitude records for skysurfing from 25 000 feet with no supplementary oxygen. Competed in speed skydiving, flown outside camera in competition, at many events and other speciality films.  Tim has been jumpmaster at more events than most people will attend in their whole skydiving career and organised groups of all levels specialising in flying fast.

Tim has been described as being one of the pioneers of free-fly and was hired by many DZ around Europe to train their future free-fly coaches.  To say he has a depth of knowledge is somewhat of an understatement.  Along with Chris Gauge he was key in helping British Skydiving (https://britishskydiving.org)  write the basis for what has now become the FF1&2 and for the more adventurous skydiver the SS1&2 syllabuses.

Tim's Thoughts...

Me… I am a caring, experienced, passionate skydiver always endeavouring to help individuals & groups increase their awareness levels and thus live a full life.

Advice… The ladder to the sky is to be taken one step at a time, only take the next step when you’ve got a sure footing. Slow is fast.

A good skydiver takes on board information from various sources and learns how to filter the information, keeping that which is best. No question is too silly to ask…

We are super pleased that Tim organised at HeliFun19 and for sure you are likely to see him at our future events.

You probably won’t find Tim on Instagram, he doesn’t need a fancy website, you can get in touch on facebook/TimPorterAbove , drop him an email at porterabove@hotmail.com
